EXCERPT

Josiah stuck the tip of his tongue in the gaping hole where his two front teeth had been. He plopped down on the plush carpet and opened the red plastic tub. He squealed and began pulling out pieces from his favorite Nativity set. He studied the jewels on the crown of one of the wise men. “I just love Cwristmas. It’s my most favorite time of the year.”

Mommy grinned at Josiah and then took a careful sip of her steaming cappuccino. She turned and looked out the bay window of the living room. “Oh, my goodness, look at our neighbors! They are putting up even more Christmas lights! They sure are determined to win the neighborhood’s Christmas decorating contest.”

Daddy walked in the front door. Josiah’s mouth dropped open. Gesturing toward the wooden manger scene sitting beneath the tree he gasped. “Daddy, we are in big trouble. Baby Jesus is missing.”
