EXCERPT

A light dazzled off her side mirror. Tempest glanced back. Headlights blazed close behind her. She punched her foot and the Pig shot forward. Her eyes flicked down to the speedometer. One hundred thirty kilometres an hour. About average for her.

The side mirrors glowed again. The trailing vehicle was within thirty feet, suddenly twenty. She swept the bike right. Tires screeched and the headlamps followed. She grinned. This was what dulled the rage: an adrenaline charge electrified by cutting too close to the edge.

Tempest could make out the boxy silhouette of a truck's cab, a shadowy figure hunched over the wheel. The truck's bumper shot up to the Pig's rear, missing it by centimetres. The fun dissipated, replaced by terror…
